Each year, religion receives the largest proportion of charitable support. In 2016, that represented $122.94 billion, more than twice the amount given to the next highest nonprofit sector, education, which received $59.77 billion.The Giving Institute and Giving USA Foundation held their 2017 Gurin Forum, “The Impact of Religion on Philanthropy” on November 8, hosted live from downtown Chicago during The Giving Institute and Giving USA Foundation November Board Meeting. Expert panelists discussed the important changes occurring in America’s religious environment and their impact on philanthropy.
