Dear Giving Institute Members,
Happy New Year! I hope this message finds you well and rejuvenated following the holiday season. The Lowcountry of South Carolina is finally back in action after the latest winter storm dropped a record-setting five inches of snow on the coast. And, yes, I can hear the chuckles from those of you in truly Northern climes…only five?
There is much for us in philanthropy to accomplish in 2018, and it is my hope that you will continue to rely on The Giving Institute’s events, members and expertise as you chart your firm’s course. I look forward, with anticipation, to the pending release of the Giving USA Foundation’s Special Report on Donor-Advised Funds, which will be the topic of a special live webcast during the March Meeting.
Speaking of the meeting, we are working hard to ensure your time at the Four Seasons Las Colinas (Dallas) is well spent, mixing traditional committee meetings in a finely orchestrated schedule along with compelling content. Registration for the March Meeting opened last week so I hope to see you all signed up soon to attend!
Again, I would like to invite anyone reading this message to get involved on one of our committees. If you have an inclination to serve but don’t know where, please feel free to reach out to me so we can talk. I know from my own experience that I gain so much from hearing from my wise Giving Institute colleagues at each meeting, regardless of the topic.
It is not too early to plan your trip to Charleston this summer for the Giving Institute Summer Symposium. June Bradham and Jerry Henry have been crafting plans for how to ensure you get your share of Charleston cuisine, and Angela Hodson and Bill McMorran are ably leading the educational program development. A shout out to Brenda Asare and Jennifer Richard for serving as Chairs of what promises to be a valuable – and fun – learning opportunity. Again, be thinking about firms you might like to invite using a Golden Ticket!
