June 2021 Chair’s Letter

Ted GrossnickleDear Members:

We tell ourselves and friends across the sector that we represent shared intelligence for the common good. Never is that more dramatically illustrated than the release of the Giving USA Report each June. This year proves that in abundance.

Giving USA 2021 has officially launched, and as of just two weeks after the release, 329 publications (with a total audience of over 630 million) have covered the information released in this year’s report, including The Chronicle of Philanthropy, The New York Times, The Washington Post, MarketWatch, Associated Press, and Bloomberg News (to see the full list of major coverage, check out our Press webpage).

Each year, this Annual Report provides shared language and a trusted base of comparisons in giving so that charities and nonprofits are better informed and equipped to raise the resources they need to fulfill their missions.

I want to extend a sincere thank you to those who have worked to make this year’s edition a reality: the team at Giving USA, Dunham + Company, the researchers and writers at Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, the designers, key member leaders and volunteers, and of course – the donors who have supported so generously.

In addition to Giving USA, we will convene soon for the Summer Symposium with a group of speakers and many non-member friends in the sector on July 22 – 24 in Washington, D.C. This is yet another way our members work collectively to create a broadly felt impact in the field. There is much to celebrate, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Ted Grossnickle
