September 2019 Letter from the Chair

Ted Grossnickle

Dear The Giving Institute members,

I hope you are all moving into a busy and productive autumn.

I want to again thank Rachel Hutchisson for her terrific contributions these past two years as Chair of The Giving Institute. The new team of board officers are in a position to build upon the great work that she and others led. I am honored to serve as your 2019-2021 Chair, and your officers and I will work hard to advance our mission of shared intelligence for the greater good.

On November 4, just before the November Meeting in Chicago, we will host an expanded version of the Mentor Series. For this year’s event, Angela Hodson and others have considered ideas and suggestions from members who have attended past events and created a program that offers two separate tracks of focused education: one for those with more experience in philanthropy and another for those new to the profession. The two groups will also convene throughout the day in joint sessions where new ideas and skills can be shared among participants. I encourage you to register not only yourselves, but newer members of your firms who would benefit from the programming. You can register and view a preliminary schedule on The Giving Institute website.

Our November Meetings in Chicago are just the beginning. There will be a special live webcast from Giving USA Foundation focused on Planned Giving research at 11am Central Time on November 6. Please plan to attend with us. Active participation and all of your ideas and support are key to The Giving Institute’s continued growth and success. If you are not able to attend in person, you can register for the webcast here.

Please take a few moments to review the lists of The Giving Institute and Giving USA committees and their chairs to see where you can make the biggest impact. If you are interested in joining a committee, please contact Mariam Gunja at mariam.gunja@mci-group.com by October 10th.

We’ll see you in Chicago in early November!

Sincerely,

Ted Grossnickle
