Ted Grossnickle Named 2019-2021 Chair of The Giving Institute

Chicago, IL – Ted Grossnickle of Johnson, Grossnickle and Associates has been named Board Chair of The Giving Institute. He was officially inducted on August 1 and will serve in this role through July 31, 2021.

“The next few years present challenges and opportunities for those we serve in the nonprofit sector; The Giving Institute will provide important thought leadership as we meet those,” Grossnickle says. “Our members working together are uniquely situated to expand knowledge, encourage new ideas and research, to learn from one another and to support the spirit and efforts of all who work in giving and voluntary action. I’m honored to serve as Chair of The Giving Institute for the next two years and look forward to our journey together.”

Ted Grossnickle is Senior Consultant and Founder of The Giving Institute member firm Johnson, Grossnickle and Associates. Headquartered in Indianapolis, JGA takes an authentic, strategic approach to providing philanthropic consulting services to private colleges, independent schools, faith-based institutions and large cultural, community, and health organizations. Committed to guiding organizations to achieving their best, Grossnickle serves as chair of the JGA board of directors, as well as managing counsel to several clients and a mentor to staff. He is deeply engaged in the nonprofit sector as an author, speaker, teacher, and board member, and has received numerous honors and awards for his achievements, including the Henry A. Rosso Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Ethical Fundraising.

Grossnickle graduated from Wabash College and previously served as vice president of development and public affairs and acting president for Franklin College. In addition to his role as The Giving Institute Board Chair, Grossnickle is on the board of Garrett Theological Seminary and is chair of the Working Committee for The Generosity Commission: A National Conversation on Giving and Voluntary Action. He is a former member and chair of the board of visitors of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and was a member of the board of trustees at Wabash College for ten years, during which he served as co-chairman of The Challenge of Excellence Campaign.
